Mtec Recommends…July 2016

This month showcases several iconic artists and their work; making for a summer of celebration and reflection…

Jun, 2016 – May, 2017 Sculpture in the City 2016 – Various Artists

Once again the City of London is home to an inspiring collection of sculpture. This year, as proud sponsors, we have installed a total of 20 works including those by Gavin Turk, Sarah Lucas, Anthony Caro and Giuseppe Penone.

Jul, 2 – Oct, 2 2016 Royal Academy of the Arts – David Hockney: 82 Portraits & 1 Still-life

As one of the most anticipated shows of the year, David Hockney’s return to the RA is not set to disappoint. With the entire show painted over the course of three days, and telling the story of those who have crossed paths with the artist over the last two years, the exhibition sees the influence of LA on Hockney’s work after his departure from Yorkshire.

Jul, 6 – Oct, 30 2016 Tate Modern – Georgia O’Keefe

With no work in UK Public collections, this exhibition gives a rare opportunity to see over 100 of O’Keefe’s works, bringing together some of her most important paintings since her debut in 1916.

Jul, 7  – Aug, 27 2016 Phillips – Barbara Hepworth: Late Hepworth

In collaboration with the Hepworth Wakefield, the exhibition explores the final decade of Hepworth’s life and work, including her experimentation with new media.
