Looking back… Autumn 2016

This Autumn has been one of our busiest. Not only has the opening of our Viewing Room facility seen us expand the range of services we are able to offer clients, but we’ve been busy with work at Frieze Sculpture Park and with shows by two of the world’s biggest artists: Antony Gormley & Richard Serra.

It was a privilege to work with Antony Gormley studio and White Cube on installations for ‘Fit’ at their Bermondsey gallery. Our longstanding relationship with both parties meant that installing these stunningly monumental works was enjoyable, insightful and  highly rewarding. All works were installed at our Enfield facility prior to the exhibition, allowing for photography and installation testing. We hope this stage will prove useful for Gormley in the future, as well as other artists who may find this stage beneficial as a part of their fabrication or installation process.

Another highlight this Autumn was the installation of Richard Serra at Gagosian. Having installed his major work, ‘Lock’ for the first time since 1976 in last year’s Frieze Sculpture Park, it was an honour to be involved in another groundbreaking exhibition of recent sculptures by the renowned artist. Mtec were responsible for the installation of five works with a total overall gross weight of 352 tonnes, making installation a challenge logistically, to say the least. This was the 3rd exhibition of large scale sculpture we have installed at Britannia St and the second on which we have collaborated with Budco Inc NYC.
