Powerless Structures, Fig. 101. We were commissioned by the Mayor of London as part of the Fourth Plinth programme.

The Fourth Plinth is one of the most high-profile art commissions, and anticipation of a new arrival is extremely high. This artwork is 4.11 metres high, 4.32 metres long and weighs 3.1 tons; however, we were asked to ensure the piece remained unseen until the unveiling.

To ensure this meant the design of a bespoke covering that could be used during transit and for the unveiling. The need for absolute punctuality without compromising safety, or potential harm to artworks, meant two teams working in unison. The installation was prepared on-site creating a safe working area big enough for the specialist low loader trailer that was en route through the night.

The sculpture arrived during the early hours of the morning and was immediately lifted into position, ensuring a seamless installation. Credit_Icon_2
