Head to 33 minutes in for detailed coverage of team Mtec moving the piece into position.

The sculpture will be in situ until Aug, 20 and tours of the exhibition take place every Friday @ 7pm.

Mtec Installations | Antony Gormley 3X Another Time | University of East Anglia

Last month we had the pleasure of installing ‘3X ANOTHER TIME’ by Antony Gormley at the University of East Anglia. The installation forms part of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art’s initiative to add to their already impressive collection of sculpture on campus and develop a renowned sculpture park at the site.

The installation was captured in a time-lapse video which shows #teammtec at work at the University. The pieces were installed in three locations chosen by Gormley to emphasise the relationship between the original University buildings and the openness of the campus as well as the way they engage with the life of the University. They will form part of an extended sculpture trail around the campus, which UEA hope will create an experience that attracts visitors on a unique cultural day out.

To find out more about the works and how to visit, visit the Sainsbury Centre’s website.

Ai Weiwei’s ‘S.A.C.R.E.D’

After the success of the recent project at Downing College, Cambridge, it was a pleasure to work with Ai Weiwei again, this time in Cuenca, Spain. As part of a series of events taking place across Spain to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, Weiwei’s iconic work ‘S.A.C.R.E.D’ is currently being exhibited in the 12th century cathedral of the Spanish city. The work, which is comprised of 6 cells detailing the Artist’s famous incarceration, presented a complex set of logistical challenges as did the unique exhibition space.Continue Reading…

Expansion of our Packing Department

Over the forthcoming months Mtec will be introducing a number of exciting developments within our Packing Department. We are embarking on a research program into the use of new materials and processes for Fine Art packing and crating. We are keen to explore and utilize methods and materials from many different industries, which we feel could be beneficial for our clients, their artworks and the processes involved with transportation, storage and installation. Research will be focused on longevity of packing and casing and,  as with all of our ongoing developments, will have the key company directive of ecology and sustainability of products and services at its heart.

Heading up the research will be our newly appointed Head of Packing, Ross Dixon.Continue Reading…

Our commitment to a Green Fleet

truck

This month saw the addition of another Mercedes-Benz Actros to our large and versatile fleet. This extremely green asset, to our already environmentally clean inventory of vehicles, means that we are now 99% EURO 6 according to European emission standards and are committed to being one of the “Greenest” fleets of vehicles in London.

The latest Actros truck is slightly smaller than our other model, giving us greater manoeuvrability around the city streets. The vehicle has an internal length of 9m, width of 2.4m and internal height of 3m, with a 3Tonne tail lift and the capacity to have a courier seat in the cab. As with all of our fleet, it has built in tracker so we can monitor locations at all time for security and keep our clients aware of their cargos progress.

If you would like to learn more about our any of our fleet or have any questions about the environmental or logistical credentials of our fleet then please drop us an email (info@mtecfreightgroup.com)

Shipping Update: Artfairs and Consolidated Shipments

Following the development’s we featured in last month’s blog, our Shipping department has been planning ahead for the next quarter and utilising the new resources and processes put in place by the expanded team. February has been just as busy as January with shipments travelling by air and see to artfairs in Hong Kong, Mexico, Geneva, New York and Dubai, as well as various large scale projects. March sees consolidated shipments leaving for Hong Kong, and Sao Paulo. Both destinations are via art truck to Europe for direct main deck service with airport supervision.

Looking further ahead, as well as our dedicated Shipping Mailouts (which you can subscribe to here) we will be sending quarterly Artfair Updates which will give our clients and partners a heads-up for consolidated shipments leaving for Artfairs across the globe. This will give our customers a chance to utilize competitive transport options as well as book our experienced technicians for on-site installation assistance and project management at the fairs. The first of these updates will be sent out later this month where we will be focusing on consolidated shipments to Frieze NY, Miart and ArtBasel.

We are already taking bookings for these fairs now that the season of art fairs is in full swing. If you would like quotations to manage your art fair logistics or have any questions, please contact edward@mtecfreightgroup.com

#12days a review of 2015

Over Christmas we ran our #12daysofinstallation and campaigns on our Facebook and Instagram profiles. Gathering together images of our most used (and loved) bits of kit and deciding which installations to include was a great way for us to look back on our most successful year to date. Our social media platforms have grown into a great way to share the work that we do, and also engage with those whom we have been working (remember to tag us or use one of our hashtags if you post something featuring our work).

If you are due to work with us on a project in 2016 don’t hesitate to ask our team about our profiles in order for us to mutually share news, media and updates about our collaborative projects.
