#12days a review of 2015

Over Christmas we ran our #12daysofinstallation and campaigns on our Facebook and Instagram profiles. Gathering together images of our most used (and loved) bits of kit and deciding which installations to include was a great way for us to look back on our most successful year to date. Our social media platforms have grown into a great way to share the work that we do, and also engage with those whom we have been working (remember to tag us or use one of our hashtags if you post something featuring our work).

If you are due to work with us on a project in 2016 don’t hesitate to ask our team about our profiles in order for us to mutually share news, media and updates about our collaborative projects.

Art Fair Overview – Frieze & FIAC 2015

October, as always, has been one of our busiest months so far this year. With numerous responsibilities at both Frieze and FIAC, we have been busy transporting and installing works, firstly at Frieze Sculpture Park, and then in the Jardin des Tuileries the week following.

This year the highlight of Mtec’s involvement at Frieze has been in the Sculpture Park, which has been curated by Clare Lilley from Yorkshire Sculpture Park.Continue Reading…

‘The Catch’ – A sculpture for Rugby World Cup 2015

‘The Catch’ is the latest in an ongoing series of collaborative projects between Land Rover’s Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, and the acclaimed Italian artist, Nino Mustica. Working with Gaucho Productions, two identical sculptures have been installed by Mtec in two of the UK’s most iconic rugby venues (Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium) and will remain for the duration of the Rugby World Cup 2015. . Inspired by the sports’ line-out, the sculpture measures over 8 metres tall and is the second piece to be made by the unique partnership to explore the relationship between abstract art and automotive design.

We initially worked with Land Rover, Nino Mustica and Gaucho Productions on installing the first sculpture in the series, ‘Unstoppable Spirit’, on London’s South Bank for Frieze 2014. The installation of the two 7m high sculptures in such a prominent and public space created its own unique obstacles and the week-long project took meticulous planning. Lifting equipment had strict parameters due to the public nature of the thoroughfare and transport had timed windows in which to arrive and leave around commuter traffic in the area; both issues Mtec have experience in dealing with and working around on major inner-city installations.

MA-CO Italia announced as official transport and logistics partner of Florence Biennale

We are extremely proud to announce that our sister company, MA-CO ITALIA,  has been selected as official partner of the 2015 Florence Biennale:‘X Florence Biennale: art and the polis’.

The Biennale will take place in the heart of Florence, at the Fortezza da Basso, from October 17th to 25th, 2015.

MA-CO Italia will be in supporting artists from across the world with our expertise in art handlingcustoms clearanceexport formalities and fine art transport together with storage during the Biennale and packing services where requiredas well as our more traditional role of installation. We will be installing a range of works from small photographs to large sculptures in a range of spaces both inside and out the venue.

MA-CO was founded in 2013 as a direct result of demand for Mtec’s services within Venice. We have always had a strong reputation in the city as an art handler due to our extensive knowledge when it comes to art installation and logistics within Venice generally. Following the closure of our suppliers, there became a real need for our company to have a base in Italy to negotiate the very unique transport issues faced when moving and installing art into Venice; thus MA-CO Italia was founded.

Mtec at the 56th Venice International Art Biennale

Here are our highlights of this year’s preview weekend and insight into Mtec‘s involvement.
