New Viewing Room facility

We are pleased to announce that phase 1 of our new Gallery Viewing Spaces is now complete at our Enfield facility. Based 30-40 minutes from Central London we have created a fully climate-controlled, lockable viewing space, suitable for the installation and photography of 2D and 3D artworks.  Set within 20,000sq.ft of storage space, and with a large external access shutter (approx. 4 x 4m), we are able to store and install large-scale pieces all at the same location.

Mtec Recommends… June 2016

The summer has begun and here are our exhibition recommendations: some staples of the art calendar and some new and exciting additions.

May, 28 – Sep, 4 2016 Lincoln Castle – Poppies:Wave

Lincoln Castle becomes the second venue to host this monumental work by Paul Cummins and Tom Piper. With it’s rich history and strong ties with World War One, Lincoln proves to be an inspirational setting for this breathtaking and emotive work.

Jun, 10 – Oct, 9 2016 Serpentine Pavilion and Summer Houses – Various Artists

This year the Serpentine Pavilion is joined by a series of Summer Houses which all take inspiration from the park’s rich history. You can read more about the individual Summer Houses and this year’s pavilion (designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)) here.

Subodh Gupta – “When Soak Becomes Spill”

In October we had the pleasure of working with the artist Subodh Gupta and the Victoria & Albert Museum on both the fabrication and installation of “When Soak Becomes Spill”. The 6m high sculpture will remain on Exhibition Rd, SW7 until 31 January 2016 as part of the V&A’s India Festival.

On receipt of the pre-fabricated bucket, Mtec worked closely with the artist to create sections of welded utensils, which had been shipped from India. These sections were then welded together by our team ready for installation on-site. Working directly with artists from the conception of an idea, through to fabrication, shipping and installation is an exciting process and something we always relish the chance to do. This process has been captured in the above film (commissioned by the V&A) which shows our team at work both at our storage facility in Ware and during installation on Exhibition Rd.

As always we’d love to see your images with “When Soak Becomes Spill”  so be sure to tag us (@mtec0) or use the hashtag #mtec0
