Mtec Artfair | Basel 2017

Basel 2017 proved to be an extremely busy one for Mtec; handling outgoing shipments, installation and de-installation of works and both return and ongoing shipments from the booths at Art Basel and Unlimited. As always it was a pleasure working with artists and galleries that we already have longstanding relationships with as well as meeting those whom we hope to work more closely with in the future.

This year Carola Quirico from our Shipping Department was at the fair until the take-down and personally oversaw operations including the handling of a number of urgent and last-minute shipments for galleries who wish to add or change the inventory of their stands.

Overall, the fair was a major success for us logistically, and we look forward to expanding our client base and services for Basel 2018, as well as continuing our work at the other major fairs throughout the Art World calendar.

If you would like to discuss your Artfair needs or begin planning shipment, installation or any other logistical element please email artfairs@mtecfreightgroup.com

Mtec Installations | Sculpture in the City 2017

Although de-installation has been taking place for a while now, this weekend saw installation of this year’s Sculpture in the City really take off. With the weather firmly on our side, #teammtec were busy placing stunning pieces from Mark Wallinger, Fernando Casasempere and Paul McCarthy, on this now iconic annual sculpture trail.

Installations around the City of London will continue over the next couple of weeks with the official launch on Jun, 27 and we will be documenting ‘behind the scenes’ images over on our instagram and facebook accounts. Stella Ioannou, Co-director of Sculpture in the City will also be following the progress of this years’ programme via Lacuna Projects instagram.

If you see us at work, or notice a new addition on your journey around London’s financial district then please be sure to either tag us (@mtec0) or use #teammtec or #sculptureinthecity in your posts.

To find out more about previous years of Sculpture in the City or our ongoing role as proud sponsors of the project please visit our previous blog posts (linked above).

Mtec Exhibitions | The Hepworth Wakefield & JW Anderson

Last week saw the opening of ‘Disobedient Bodies: JW Anderson curates the Hepworth Wakefield’, earmarked as one of this year’s ‘must-see’ exhibitions. As sponsors, we were lucky enough to attend the preview dinner which saw JW Anderson give an inspiring speech introducing his unique curation of personal sculptures with notable fashion pieces.  The public opening, the following evening, was marked by an open party with DJ and drinks.

Throughout the exhibition there are a number of associated events including a pop-up event at Trinity Walk, Wakefield with a chance to create wearable sculptures and other fashion themed activities. You can find out more about this and other events here.

The exhibition is complimented by a beautifully produced catalogue and a unique edition of 20 framed pieces by the fashion designer, which you can buy here.
