Last week saw the announcement of this year’s Turner Price shortlist. This year’s nominees include Michael Dean, the only male artist, Anthea Hamilton, whose piece, ‘Project for Door (After Gaetano Pesce’, appears to have been selected as this year’s poster child for the prize (thanks to the rather large buttocks which take centre stage), and London based Helen Marten and Josephine Pryde.
The Prize sees a return, after recent years which contained a heavy element of conceptual and filmic works, to more ‘traditional’ mediums, with a strong, sculptural contingent.
